    Its been a while... again
Well its June, I said I would update in June, and here we are. Well its been an entire semester since I last updated, I had a good semester grade wise (highest GPA ever for me :-)). For this semester, out of my 3 other roommates, only Jeremy was there. Andy was doing a co-op in MD and Matthew was working at home. It was a bit weird to have only two people there, but it worked out well. The only problem was figuring out what to have for dinner... unfortunately "I dunno" isn't a food. My classes were Music Appreciation, Technical Writing, Intermediate Software Engineering, Applied Combinatorics, and Statistics for Electrical Engineering. It wasn't too bad a semester, I survived and thats what matters :) Music and Technical Writing were online, so that made it easier, I only had 9 credits a week that I had to go to class for :)
So the semester is over, and I survived, only one more year and I enter the real world! Thats only 4 or so more Livejournal updates ;-)

For those of you living in a tomb (or just not checking my buddy info) I created a messaging program called WIM (Werfel Instant Messenger), so check that out at www.werfel.com! It is ultra fly and has 75+ smileys!

I came home from school on my birthday and everyone was at Margaret's house to surprise me, it was very fly :-). They had food and cheesecake from cheesecake factory waiting for me :) Since then I have been hanging out and working and stuff. I have hung out a lot of times at Rocky and Rambo's house. I am still working at the VA, still in the closet. We have now added Stephen to the Closet Software gang, we have 4 people in the storage closet. There is some chance we will move to another, bigger, closet, but we are not sure that is happening.

Last weekend was the Pale Party at my house, as it has done most of the last month, it rained. But we had a good time, Rocky played with someone of equal intelligence, my cat Jeter :). I am at work, not much to do at the moment. Hopefully my software will get released this summer, only a year late...

Tomorrow I am flying to Las Vegas to go gambling with my dad. It should be a fun time, hopefully I won't be broke when I get home. If you see my driving an Acura TSX next week, assume I did well. If I am riding a bicycle, give me a few dollars for food :)

Next week is Beach week :-) which should be lots of fun, hopefully it won't rain and we will see the sun a little bit.

At the end of June I am going to France with Margaret and my family. We will be gone for almost 2 weeks, it should be lots of fun. We will spend most of the time in Biaritz and the last night in Paris. (I can only handle a little bit of sight seeing).

After that I will be taking a summer course at MK. Rocky and I will be in public speaking, so hopefully I will learn how to talk. I tried taking the course at NOVA, but they are stupid and their "online" course requires you to call in your assignments every week. So that would not have worked well with all my traveling.

Well thats all I have to say, hopefully I will update again this summer, perhaps again after I go to Vegas. I hope you enjoyed this update, just don't get used to seeing them ;-)

    Wow, it's been a while
Well I officially am the worst LJ owner in the world! Margaret isn’t even as bad as I am. Yes I am still alive for anyone curious, despite all of Operating Systems attempts at killing me, I have survived this much.
So, what’s new since I last updated… well summer ended :-( school started :-( I am living in a townhouse with 3 other CS majors (well one is technically a comp engineer but he is transferring to CS cuz CS is cooler :-)) The house is pretty nice, we haven’t destroyed it yet, although my room has gotten rather bad (Rocky and Rambo would both die if they saw it ;-)) After my roommate Matthew realized there were no clean glasses my other roommate Andy suggested he could “emulate” the dishwasher himself. Truly this is a house of CS majors.
Classes have been kinda tough, Operating Systems is hell, 2 of my friends dropped, but I think I will survive. I had to drop Stat cuz I failed the first test and the teacher sucked, so hopefully someone else will teach it next semester, or I might be screwed. Diff Eq hasn’t been bad, I somehow managed to get a 98 on the second test, yes, I was amazed too. Philosophy has been kinda crappy, and I have officially decided psychology is more important, sorry Anika. My other class is Human Computer Interaction (HCI), it’s pretty interesting, and we talk about interfaces with computers and people. It has given me new understanding of how crappy some programs are. It’s truly made me hate some interfaces and made me very critical of others programs.
Margaret came down a few weeks ago :-) that was a lot of fun. We learned that Wal-Mart is not as fun at midnight as one might expect, apparently they need to stock the shelves at some time. I came home a few times; Jeremy (one of my roommates) has a girlfriend who goes to MD so it’s really convenient so we drove together. Margaret and I went to pentagon city mall once and we just hung out and stuff :-)
My car story for the semester is my car deciding it didn’t want me leaving anymore. For about a week I couldn’t open the driver side door, it was rather annoying. I had to use the remote to unlock the door from the inside so I could get out. The mechanic thought someone tried to break into the car and that’s what caused it. It was certainly a fun week. Oh yeah, my other car story is my battery dying, that was a lot of fun. Trying to pop the clutch in a gravel parking lot was unsuccessful :-( so I had to get a tow truck to jump it.
Well on Thursday I go home for thanksgiving break :-) I can’t wait; this week needs to be over! I plan on working so I should have more tales from the VA and fighting with computers.
One thing I just realized in case you didn’t see it in my away message was that Grape-Nuts cereal is really just repackaged cat food. Consider yourself warned.
Well that’s all I can think of for now, I am sure I will remember some more stuff in five minutes, but I guess that will have to wait for my next update, ETA June 2003…

Oh yeah, and visit my website, my dad agreed to pay for the domain, so go to www.werfel.com

    Another Weekly update
Once again, here is my weekly update. Last week wasn’t very interesting… I am assuming that is true because I don’t remember most of it. The only thing I did during the week was help Anika move at her fly moving Par-Tay. Despite the extremely hot weather and the huge amount of stuff to move (including a piano), it was fun and the heat didn’t kill anyone. Although I now am sure that I will never own a piano, or at least never move one, I would only live in a house with a piano if it came with the house.
Friday Margaret and I went shopping; I survived her shopping for dresses for her cousins wedding.
Saturday I went with Margaret’s family to Luray Caverns, it was nice. I had been there many years ago… I don’t think it has changed much since then.
Sunday Margaret and I snuck away to Ocean City for the day :-) The trip actually worked really well, we didn’t have any traffic getting to Ocean City. Parking wasn’t really a problem and the weather was perfect for the beach. It was extremely hot, but that wasn’t that bad since we were at the beach. The water was much nicer than when we were there in June. We left Ocean City at about 5 despite fears and warnings about traffic; we decided we didn’t feel like staying there really late. Surprisingly enough, there was absolutely no traffic on the way home, I was truly shocked.
This week doesn’t seem to interesting yet, tonight is a par-tay hosted by Rambo, we shall see if Rakesh can survive Anika’s stalking of him ;-) I had hoped to go to Blacksburg this weekend to setup my room more at my townhouse, but because of my stupid summer class, I can’t go. The final is on Monday and I figure I should at least pretend like I will study for it.
I am still taking suggestions for websites, however my dad has said he would pay for www.werfel.com, so I am leaning towards getting something a bit more interesting. I think I will go with www.gotwerfel.com, unless someone suggests something that I like more. That’s about all for me, I will report back and see if tonight’s par-tay is really fly!

    Hershey Park, part deux
Friday after class I went over to Margaret’s [info]margaret007 house and her family, and her Egyptian friends and I all drove up to Hershey Park… again! As anticipated, it started to rain precisely when we decided to leave her house. We took 2 cars, the cool car (which I of course drove) and the van. My car had all the “children” and the van all the old people. We survived the traffic by blaring loud music out the windows as we sputtered along at 10 mph for some of the trip. Eventually we got to Hershey, I was good and didn’t flick anyone off this time, and so it remains the sweetest place on earth.
The park was fun, despite being rather cold. We ran into Tom there, which was sort of odd, but nice. We realized the rain had stopped because Tom was there. (It seems Tom has more power to prevent rain than I do to make it rain!) Friday night we spent in a hotel, Margaret’s family and I in one room, I will summarize it by simply saying, it could have been worse.
Saturday was back to the park for some more fun. We went on a bunch of rides, still avoiding the water rides because it was a fairly crappy and cold day, but not bad for regular rides. We left the park at about 2 and went to the outlet malls, I survived that by finding every bench I could while Margaret went into all the stores (Not technically all of them, but plenty) I believe I was the only one who left the outlets empty handed. We drove back home and then had some dinner. All in all, a fun trip, although very tiring. Saturday night we watched the original Planet of the Apes, which is 1000 times better than the new version.
Sunday was my ultra, super fly pool par-tay! Was a fun time, Rocky, Bullwinkle, Rambo, David, Margaret, Kristin, Anika, and Sarah were all there. After the pool party we went to Wal-Mart where I was looking to purchase a computer with Lindows so I could put my web server on it. Unfortunately they didn’t have it :-(. I did leave with a TI-89 calculator and a new watch, although I am not sure if I like it so I might return it. That was the weekend, it was a pretty good time, I wonder if I will end up at another amusement park this coming weekend ;-)

    Hershey Park
This past weekend was the E1 camping trip to Hershey Park. The trip started on Friday and all was going well until we got into Pennsylvania. After this past weekend, I have a new hatred towards drivers in PA. First we got lost because the roads are unlabeled. After about an hour of wandering around PA, we found the campsite. We had three camp spots, which gave us plenty of space. Friday night was spent hanging out and talking, eating dinner which Donna [info]ezmacisfun and Mark [info]terpelessar made, and then eating smores… not “schmores” :-)
We got up Saturday morning to notice the vacuum spared Mike but attacked Anika [info]freisian02 :-). We then headed to Hershey Park. This is where I discovered my hatred towards PA drivers. WHY WOULD YOU STOP ON AN ON RAMP?!!? Because of other people’s stupidity, I was forced to flick someone off and Tom yelled at me for doing that in, “The sweetest place on Earth”. We had a fun time there, but we did experience the world’s worst ride! The park has a new ride where the people on the ground can shoot water at the people on the ride, and for a bit of revenge, the riders can drop water on the people on the ground. Despite the long line, we decided to wait for this new experience. Let me tell you, the getting soaked thing got really old really fast. After an hour and a half of waiting, we were finally to the front. Just before Margaret [info]margaret007and I were about to get on the ride, they decided to take off a car and replace it with a new one, so we had to wait an extra half hour to ride. I would like to thank Mark, Donna, Tom and John for waiting for us (They got on the ride before the delay) And Margaret is definitely right, our group was by far the best. Sorry Kristen [info]krissytin283, but you were in the looser group :-)
We then ate dinner at a place where they had paper as the place mat and gave you crayons to draw with. James #3 and I proceeded to work on the math problem from hell there (unsuccessfully).
After dinner we went on more rides to find our hope of small lines late at night was wrong. We still had to wait 20 minutes for a ride at 10:30 at night. We then went back to the campsite and sat around a bit and talked and stuff. Then went to bed.
Sunday we woke up and planned to make a fire to make some more smores, but James #1 dumped water on the fire area because he said, “The smoke was getting in my face”. We had lunch provided again by Mark and Donna (Thanks for cooking you two) and then drove to Lancaster to see Tom’s house. We spent a little time there and then drove home. Despite being a very tiring trip, it was loads of fun. Quotes from the trip can be found exclusively on Margaret’s LJ and my website (coming soon)

    You're Donatello!

You're introspective and somewhat reserved. Definetely more brain cells than the average turtle, and you're something of a "Mr. Fix-It." You love to invent things, or fix broken stuff. You are quiet and serious, but do have a fun side. Try and let it show more often.

    My week
OK, so my string of updating often lasted all of 2 days, but oh well, you didn't really expect me to keep updating everyday? So I am at work now… “Working” on an annotation program, although I definitely think it’s done. So last week went all right, I survived it, and I am glad its over. I didn’t do all that much during the week, went to class and stuff. On Wednesday I hung out with Jesse, I forgot how much exercise you get with Jesse, it’s a good thing because I am definitely getting out of shape, but my body was hurting afterwards… that’s really pathetic I know. Not much else happened during the week, for the weekend I went to Blacksburg to move into my new townhouse :-) When I got to my apartment, I immediately noticed what a dump the place had become. My roommate was living there for the summer and well, he doesn’t know how to clean! My once white shower curtain… now black! I definitely considered using shower shoes when I showered at my own apartment! Moving wasn’t that bad, I have to give a big thanks to Julie for helping me move, it would have taken a lot longer without her help. Unfortunately, the move was very rough on my poor car :-( On Saturday when I woke up, I went outside to move stuff to my car and I noticed my car had been egged! That was not fun to clean up and it definitely did not make a fun start for the day. Then I made a small crack in my taillight when I was putting stuff into my trunk. Then when I parked at my townhouse, I looked down to realize, I had run over a bag of dog shit! WHO LEAVES A BAD OF DOG SHIT IN THE PARKING LOT!!! Overall the weekend was fine, I got everything into my new room… barely. (I lost the coin flip with Jeremy for the big room :-() I left Blacksburg early Sunday morning to get home and see Margaret, who had come home the night before. Spent Sunday with her, was nice to have her home :-) Not much else going on, I should probably do some work now. Until next time, hopefully a better day for our fearless leader’s car!

Two Days in a row! What a shock!
Updating two days in a row! Wow, I know you are amazed? so am I. This morning I got up and I went to Great Falls to go hiking with [info]friesian02, Sarah, [info]katydid256, [info]krissytin283, and David. (I would like to welcome Kristin to the wonderful world of LiveJournal users, hopefully you will be better about updating than I am.) David, Anika and I got to the park at the same time and we soon found out that Kate, Anika, and Sarah were going to be late because Chelsea, who was going to give them a ride, wasn't coming. So to fill the time we had, we played with some mice we found at the park? no, not really. Anika brought two lab mice to release into the wild, and they refused to run away, so we played with them for a while.
Once everyone was there, we went hiking. we hiked for about an hour and a half or so (I kinda lost track of time). It was a good hike, far more than I expected, but very fun. My body certainly feels it now? yes, I know, I am pathetically out of shape.
After hiking, we all went to Olive Garden for lunch, good food :-) I was smart and didn't eat all my food so I could have some for dinner. After lunch I came home and kinda sat around and avoided my math homework. I eventually did my work and now I am just sitting around talking online on my super slow dialup connection :-( My goal for the week (yes Margaret, I set a goal!) is to convince my mom to get DSL at my house :-) That's all for today, perhaps I will be amazing and update 3 days in a row? don't count on it ;-)

    It's been a while
OK, so I haven't updated in a really long time, so I will try and catch you all up on what I have been up to. Two weeks ago I went to Phoenix for my cousin's Bat Mitzvah, [info]margaret007 came to keep me from going insane. My side of the family had about 6 people there, the other side of my cousin's family has like 10 cousins, so my side, as usual, was very outnumbered. Margaret determined that she has more Jewish cousins than I do (I only have 3 first cousins). All in all, the trip was very fun, Margaret now understand my pathetic dancing skills having seen my dad dance.

During the week I worked, Tom joined [info]rockyblo and I in the closet at the VA. not much of interest happened at work, just the usual cursing at computers, I am now programming a bit in Visual Studio .NET, and my official opinion is that its more or less crap. ITS EXTREMELY SLOW ON A 1.7 GIGAHERTZ PENTIUM 4. that's just plain pathetic. That Thursday I went to Ruth's Chris Steak house and got 50% off because Ryan works there, that was a good meal, Margaret and I only had to pay $45 for dinner. That Friday Margaret and I went to Baltimore and hung out with Jeremy and Erin, we saw Bad Company, it wasn't nearly as bad as you might expect.

Last weekend was mostly spent swimming and relaxing. This week consisted of me only working 2 days because on Wednesday I started summer class at NOVA. I am taking Multivariable Calculus, which they call Vector Calculus. This is after barely surviving Vector Geometry last semester at Tech (I was hoping for a 25% on the final). Hopefully I will pass the class, the grade isn't that important because only the credit transfers, not the grade. Thursday (the 4th of July) Margaret and I went swimming, the water was great :) We decided to go to Rakesh's fly par-tay instead of going downtown. (Our parents scared us into avoiding the non existent terrorist attacks) I spent Friday with Margaret and this morning I woke up at 5:20 AM to go with her family to BWI airport. They are in Bonaire for a week, so I am all alone:-( oh well, its only a week, I can deal. Today has been rather pointless, but I got to relax, so that was nice. That's about all from here, hopefully I will update more frequently.

    Beach Week
So if any of you were wondering, and it seems someone was, I was at the beach last week and that is why I didn't post any messages or anything.

Beach week was a lot of fun, we stayed in the same house as last year in Dewey Beach. Nothing overly amazing happened, we did not have any major catastrophes, other than John cutting his finger. I think I will leave it up to [info]margaret007 or [info]friesian02 to give a more detailed description of the week. It was certainly a lot of fun and I believe I was the only person who did not get burned at all :) Two of the days (I think Tuesday and Wednesday) were really hot and I actually went into the water despite its frigid temperatures.
On Wednesday a few of us ventured to Ocean City and stopped for Lazer Tag. It was a lot of fun despite the fact we lost by 500 points. Margaret called a weird redneck with long blond hair ugly to his face. THAT’S MY GIRL :) We continued further into Ocean City and had fun yelling at other people as we drove, I proclaimed myself not a “Soccer Mom” despite the fact I was driving a mini-van. Most of the week was just hanging out and playing Dutch blitz and hearts. on Thursday we watched the entire Star Wars Trilogy, I believe we intentionally “forgot” Episode 1 so we would not have to sit through seeing Jar Jar. I believe Anika was the only one who actually sat through and watched all of the 3 movies.
The week flew by very fast, and I can’t really remember what we did, but it certainly was a lot of fun. But its back home for me, and soon to be back to the supply closet with Rakesh. Good to be home, but it would have been nice to have a few more days on the Beach.

Oh, the week before the beach when I was just slow and didn’t update. The biggest event was going to see Green Day and Blink 182 at the MCI center, which was a gift for [info]elliedb06’s birthday . Green Day was great, they never stop playing music through their entire set. They were better than when I saw them at last years HFStival. after destroying their instruments (which appeared harder than you would expect) the lead singer played good riddance, which is my favorite Green Day song. For whatever reason, it seemed as if people more wanted to see Blink, which seems really stupid to me. so since Green Day went before Blink, we didn’t need to stay for all of blink, which was good because I couldn’t really understand what they were singing. it was a fun time.

    My Weekend
Weekend update with Julian! So Saturday was Matt's, [info]margaret007's cousin, party. So it was me and her cousins, including [info]elliedb06 and [info]shennanigan, and some more of their cousins. We stayed up and talked and stuff, check their LJ's to see if they divulge more details ;) It was a fun night, despite being kept awake by large amounts of snoring, I didn't fall asleep until 5:30. But it was certainly a fun time. Sunday we had breakfast and talked more and then left Matt's house.
After that it was time for a fly par-tay at Rajesh and Rakesh's house, although Rakesh wasn't invited. But I believe the security allowed him in :) It was a fun party, although much beach week details are still needed to be worked out... BEACH WEEK IS ONLY 4 DAYS AWAY!!!!
Today work was alright, actually got some stuff done, and I remembered my hatred towards Mumps... its a language for all who don't know. Rakesh can back me up on its annoyingness. Tonight I had dinner with my mom and Margaret and then just hung out. Looking forward to this week to be over so we can go to the beach :)

    My day
So today I went to work, for anyone who doesn't know, I work at the VA and I mostly fight the epic battle of good versus evil, or for most other people, the battle against computers. Most of the day was trying to get certain different computers to work and do something close to what they are supposed to do. Not terribly interesting, although my ride to work was fun: I got cut off by some guy on Connecticut Avenue. So as a response, besides my normal horn honking and flicking off, I passed the guy, (flicking him off again) and jumped ahead of him :) He was none too happy, although I was :)
That was about the extent for the interest of my day, at least until I got off work. Which I did leave early because I wasn't doing anything. Although I was correct in assuming that since Rakesh and I decided to leave at 3:30, people would attack us at 3:25 with more work. So I got out of most of the work until Monday, but Rakesh was not so lucky and he had to spend a bit more time working.
After work I spent time with Margaret and we went to Outback Steakhouse :) It was good, then we went to Best Buy, but for the second straight time, I left empty handed :( Stupid things that I want being really expensive :( Not much else going on now, just hanging out at Margaret’s :)
